  My mail was held on a snow hold from 2.14 till 2.28...without any notification what's so ever. We had a storm on the 13th so I can believe my mailbox was not accessible but from the 18 till the 24 had 5 days that the Tempature was above 50 degrees AND snow from the road was completely gone. I called Wendy at the post office and she told me the mailman could not notify of the hold because he could nor access the mailbox.....really, not only could they have stretched and reached it, or opened their door and put one foot out, and done so, but how about the second week when my mailbox was more than accessible. Obviously, the post office will not go the extra step.....not only will they hold your mail, they don't even tell you. My husband saw the mail person drive by everyday delivering to my neighbors, but did not have the common courtesy to either give me my mail or at least let me know they were delivering it to the GIW PO where I could have retrieved it. My husband was diagnosed with kidney cancer in that time period, and only when I was looking for insurance and hospital paperwork, did I realize I was not receiving my mail. I only received it on the 28th because I called and complained. Needless to say, my husband was already in the hospital having surgery, when I received paperwork I needed prior to that. When I received my mail, it was stuffed in my box and door left open, and I took pictures of brochures confirming that the mail had been held for 2 weeks since the storm on theb13th. Wendy stated that the post office has a right to hold mail and not notify us because no federal funds are used to run the postal service.....she actually said it was a free service.....I guess she forgets the stamps we pay to move the mail....very disappointed in the whole system and I see now why the postal service is becoming obsolete
